TiVo, how I love you.
So, TiVo. I love it. It's my neighbors' so I got to choose from the plethora of children's programming they had recorded, so Matthew and I watched an anniversary edition of Sesame Street, and these are all the good bits:

When you're lost, ask for help.

Never leave the keys in your transdimensional time traveling taxi.

Make friends of all kinds. C-3PO and R2-D2 rock so hard that they made friends with "Large Bird" in 1978. Snuffleupagus stepped out of the imaginary closet in 1985, when I was about two or three years old - I distinctly remember this. Since then, everyone on Sesame Street has been able to see Big Bird's friend.

1998, Grover demonstrates his niftiness (aside from his love for kittens and penchant for flying):
Kid: You're the best monster I ever met.
Grover: Oh! I need a hug for that.
In 2000, Cookie Monster said, "maybe friend somebody you give up last cookie for."

Honesty is the best policy. In 2001, high winds demolished Big Bird's nest:
Big Bird: Gordon! My home! My nest! My everything!
Gordon: Now Big Bird, Big Bird. It's all right, it's all right.
Big Bird: No, it's not.
Gordon: You're right, Big Bird. It's not all right. But it will be all right.
This entry was brought to you by the letter C and the number 10. And fireflies, that I saw for the first time in about a decade.

Never leave the keys in your transdimensional time traveling taxi.

By far the best advice I've ever heard - it's saved my ass so many times. I'm gonna tattoo it on my kids' foreheads.
